WHAT TO EXPECT

Whether you’ve visited several times, or are just thinking about coming to Hope Community Church, we’re glad to have you join us. Pastor John Anderson has a special welcome for you. We’ve also outlined some of the things you will do when you visit, so you know what to expect.

Before the Service

We moved to our current location at 302 Tristan Drive in late 2007.  We are situated on over 20 acres of land, and even have a pond, making it a beautiful setting for the large windows and open architecture of this 14,000 square-foot facility. You can expect to find a casual atmosphere, upbeat music, a relevant message, nursery/preschool/kids worship for kids up through grade 4, and fellowship at our free coffee bar!

Find the church:

Our church building is located at 302 Tristan Drive in Shawano, at the southeast corner of Hwy. 22 and County Road BE, 1/2 mile east of Perkins. (map)

Check in at the Nursery:

Our Nursery is the perfect place for children from birth to age 3. The staff and volunteers create a safe, fun atmosphere in which children can learn Bible stories and participate in age-appropriate worship. Parents check in their children and receive a security number for each child.  Older children, age 4 through grade 4, are dismissed to participate in Preschool and Kids Worship during the service.

Preschool and Kids Worship:

Our preschool room is a fun place where children ages 3 and 4 learn about Jesus’ love. Adult volunteers are dedicated to teaching kids an innovative, interactive Bible lesson with a fun craft or activity.  Kid’s Worship is our Sunday Morning ministry for kids age 5 through 4th grade.  This is a fun place where compassionate staff and volunteers help kids become lifelong followers of Jesus through Bible teaching, story-telling, worship, games, crafts & more!

Please note!  Kid’s Worship and Preschool begin partway through the morning service.  Children remain with their parents in the sanctuary for the music portion of the worship service, and are dismissed to Preschool and Kid’s Worship just before the sermon starts.

Get Settled:

At Hope Community Church, you’ll notice a casual atmosphere and people of all ages and walks of life. Our greeters will welcome you at the door and direct you to the Information Center or the Sanctuary.  As you enter the sanctuary, an usher will give you a bulletin which includes church announcements and a blue note-taking sheet for the message. An usher can direct you to seats in the sanctuary– or you may sit wherever you are most comfortable. Once seated, you’ll want to look at the screen to get an idea of upcoming events and opportunities for Hope Community Church attenders.

During the Service

Worship:

This time is set aside for communicating with God from our hearts. Our worship team will lead us in upbeat, contemporary songs of celebration, as well as more intimate songs of worship. Many of the songs may be familiar to you if you listen to the WPFF (90.5 FM) radio station. Everyone worships in his or her own unique way – for many, that means singing and clapping along, and for others it means quietly reflecting on the words or raising hands in worship. You’re welcome to do whatever makes you feel most comfortable.

Offering:

Each week Hope Community's regular attenders make an offering. As a guest, there is no need for you to give. This is an act of worship for our regular attenders, allowing them to thank God for all of the great work he is doing in their lives. It also gives Hope Community the means to reach more people for Christ in the future.

Message:

Every weekend, our pastor gives a relevant, straightforward message that is based on Scripture and is designed to be helpful in your everyday life. Many past messages are available on CD, and our most recent messages are availble free online. These messages will help you develop a growing, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and apply biblical teaching to your own life.

Communion:

Generally, on the first Sunday of each month we celebrate communion together. Anyone can participate in this time of reflection and prayer – as long they’ve made the decision to follow Jesus Christ. The juice and bread that we share represent the life he gave up so that our sins could be forgiven.

Preschool and Kids Worship:

While adults are listening to the message in the sanctuary, the kids are listening to their own dynamic interactive message, learning principles that can be lived out all week long. Children are divided into classrooms with age-appropriate teachings and activities-- discussing topics that will help them build a solid foundation and a strong relationship with God.

After the Service

Pick up your kids:

If you check a child into our Nursery, you will receive an ID number so that we can be absolutely sure the right kids go home with the right parents. If your child needs you during the service, the number you received from the nursery will be flashed on the screen.  Please be sure to pick up your child as soon as the service is over.  If your kids participated in our preschool ministry, for their safety you will need to pick them up as soon as the service is over.

Visit the Coffee Bar:

Stop and hang out at our Coffee Bar after the service.  The coffee is great and it's free!  Take some time to sit and chat with friends or family, relax, discuss the day’s message, or connect with other attenders.

Stop by the Information Center:

Make sure to stop by our Information Center on your way out. It’s located on your right as you head out of the main entrance. You’ll get your questions answered, and be able to pick up materials to get you started at Hope.
